Palate Passion: Walla Walla Cheese Company
I often recall a past question posed on numerous occasions by my late mother Elveda during many a dinner hour.
Her query was stated as follows: "You know what sounds really good?"
"What?" I would say with heightened curiosity.
"A toasted cheese sandwich with tomato soup," she'd suggest.
A splendid and comforting idea, I thought while mentally licking my chops.
The Milton-Freewater community is blessed to have an establishment that offers such a culinary pleaser for lunch that would stimulate taste buds of all kinds - the Walla Walla Cheese Company.
Patrons can enjoy all of the cheesiness and soup slurping they can muster for less than 10 dollars. Grilled cheese gurus have their choice of three cheddar sandwiches to dine on - regular, herb and garlic, or mad (habanero).
The herb and garlic option I selected stood on the plate proudly alongside a hot cup of tomato basil soup.
The lengthy list of cheeses offered is spotlighted by the likes of Pecorino Romano, Oregon Blue, and French Emmental.
Perhaps you'd like to tease your sweet tooth. The Walla Walla Cheese Company is proud to offer a wide variety of ice cream flavors including old favorites like vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry, and off-the-chart selections such as Reese's peanut butter chocolate, banana caramel praline, and horchata. Ice cream can be ordered by the pint, quart, scoop, cone or flight. The latter is a cupped foursome of half-scoops.
Are you looking for meats, pasta, asparagus, or sweet onion mustard? Look no further than across the street from the Milton-Freewater Elks Lodge.
