For a guy who has a dojo and lives in the woods, Ian Gregoire is surprisingly personable and relatable. Like many paths to small business ownership, Ian’s is an eclectic conglomeration of experiences and lessons which has led him to Life Coaching- a career which allows him to be “totally, authentically me.” From teaching Latin Dance to leading combat athletes, Ian Gregoire does it all.

Born and raised in the geographical center of the Walla Walla Valley, Ian was raised on the Old Milton Highway where the Walla Walla River meets Yellowhawk Creek. Like most of us growing up, he imagined himself as an athlete, and inventor, and an entertainer. From a young age, Ian enjoyed working hard for himself, selling sweet onions and mowing lawns for his first jobs; in High School, he joined a garage band and discovered his passion for the Musical Arts.

In the early 2000’s, Ian began studying Spanish abroad in Ecuador where he was immersed with people dancing Salsa, Merengue, Cumbia, and Bachata, and became captivated by Latin Dance. He found himself mesmerized by the exotic body movements, swept up in the energy in the room, but most of all the fun that people were having and the smiles on their faces! During the late 2000’s, Ian was working in Colombia as an English Teacher and Volleyball Coach and, as fate would have it, his neighbor and mentor time was a Life Coach, a Doctor that specialized in Hypnosis, and also had a Black Belt in Karate.

Eventually, Ian moved back to Walla Walla where he taught basic Latin Dance lessons at Walla Walla Community College, and at Cavu Cellars for nearly three years. “Latin Dance is an interesting, prosocial activity that is accessible to everyone. Such a great vibe, such happiness in the air; not worrying about the dips, flips, or how you look.” During this timeframe, Ian taught English at WWCC for five years and GED studies at the Washington State Penitentiary. He also taught Spanish and Physical Education at Weston-McEwen High School in Athena, and Cuban Dance. Through these incredibly diverse experiences, Ian found his love for fitness, teaching, and coaching; building on these principles, Ian became a full-time Life Coach!

For the longest time, Ian says he “didn’t have a mentor or a guide,” and he’s had to learn to guide himself. Now, as a Life Coach, Ian has truly found his passions and purpose aligned: working with people to save them time, money, and energy; he helps them “get on a better path quicker, smoother, and with greater results.” He finds the greatest value in “walking with people as they pass through the storm and guiding them towards greater outcomes; creating more joy, peace, and freedom- that’s the real pay-off.” Ian works with individuals, couples, and organizations from all walks of life, from a blossoming local Boxer who won 2nd place in the 2022 National Junior Boxing Championship to corporations who want their employees to achieve their highest personal and professional performance. In the broadest sense, he works with fighters of all kinds- whether they are a combat athlete or someone fighting for their lives- people who have that warrior spirit. “I don’t want to just work on diet or workout plans. It’s a wholistic thing. It’s a mindset thing.

There is no end to the testimonials that Ian’s Clients report about the incredible changes in their lives with just one 45-minute session and one 15-minute check-in per week: their health, physical, and mental challenges are easier to navigate. They are saving money, their finances are better, their literal and metaphorical pain is improving. Ian says that the most rewarding part is witnessing “that mental shift from darkness to light” by helping people self-actualize the comfort and happiness they are in search of.

Being the true physical embodiment of the Yin and the Yang, he’d like to teach Latin Dance lessons here in Milton-Freewater over the summer while continuing his intense work with warriors of all kinds. Ian helps people and organizations work on anything from health/fitness/wellness goals to professional/business/personal life/relationship goals. “I’ll work with the personal trainers and the Dieticians, but I work on all levels that allows me to be fully ME and you to be fully YOU.”
