November 2022 Executive Director Corner

Last Updated 11/7/2022Posted in #mfcda

Hi There and Happy November!

Obviously, I put this section at the top to share some very special information: we are opening up nominations for new Board Members! We are also in the beginning stages of planning our MFCDA Awards Banquet! More information on that highlighted below.

In other news, this is that special time of year where we look forward to spending more quality time with our loved ones, accepting that the diet is pointless, and spreading love and cheer to those around us. In the spirit of my inevitable 10lb weight gain over this Holiday Season, what better way to prepare than to show off some of Milton-Freewater's delicious food and drinks! January 2023 is right around the corner and we can learn to "love" kale and exercise some other time.

On that note, I'd like to thank Roy Elia for his ongoing contributions to the Palate Passion column as well as supplying half of the articles for this month's Newsletter! The first time I met Roy, he spent hours showing me all of the yummy things to eat here in Milton-Freewater, and cheerfully accepted an invitation to write a monthly food column. And, here we are!

MFCDA has opened public Nominations to our Board of Directors! Nominating someone from your organization ensures that your company’s interests are represented at our meetings which are critical to community planning, and that you are the first to know about local happenings. The Board has the task of overseeing the broader organizational structure to ensure that the vision and mission is true to the implementation measures be taken. Board Membership is an indication of an organization’s leadership abilities, dedication to bettering the community, and philanthropic core values. To nominate someone to our Board of Directors, send an email to director.mfcda@gmail.com

Additionally, we are in the process of planning our very first joint-organization Awards Banquet! Our theme this year is an homage to our super special American Viticulture Association "Rocks District"; and our deeply valuable citizens, organizations, and community: Jewels and Gentstones- A Cut Above. We have set the date for February 17th 2023, and would like to put a Committee together to help us plan and execute this event! If you or someone you know would like to learn how to plan large-ish events, which is actually super fun(!!!), again send an email to director.mfcda@gmail.com

We have been kicking off the Holiday Season here, starting with October's Halloween Classic Car & Trunk-or-Treat (which was a HUGE HIT!!!- Thank you to the Promotions Committee), and planning for the the upcoming Christmas Magic festivities! We have so many wonderful things planned for our town, and I just can't wait to see it all set up for the very first time!

Yours In Service,

Maryelizabeth
