Wedding cakes. Stuffed rolls. Lactation cookies. Salads. To fully grasp the multi-faceted business approach that Amberlynn Kralman -or Amber- has for Sister's Breads & Creations, some backstory and looking forward are key.
As far back as Amber can remember, her life was oriented around the kitchen. Amber's mother and grandmother owned restaurants; her paternal grandmother and great grandmother baked and made wedding cakes. It's absolutely clear that a passion for homemade food runs in Amber's blood! Due to growing up in the kitchen, attending Le Cordon Bleu in Scottsdale, AZ was a natural transition to the professional world of delicacies. Amber found that she was especially interested in working with chocolate, sugar, and, to her surprise, bread! After she graduated, Amber worked as a Pastry Chef at Disney World in Florida, where she made over 300lbs of bread every single day, which she insisted was "lots of fun" (note the mischievous glimmer in her eye).
Eventually, Amber moved back home to be with her family in Star Valley, Wyoming, and she and her mother, Anette, opened a catering business, A & A Catering. She went on to meet her husband, Mac-Hi graduate Brandon Kralman, and together they started a family and moved to Brandon's hometown here in Milton-Freewater. As one can imagine, their almost 5 year-old, Lois, is gearing up to be quite the little baker herself!
After relocating to Milton-Freewater, Amber started baking for Missy Washburn at Missy's Mobile Cupcakes and, when the opportunity arose for Amber to take over the business, she jumped at the opportunity. In April 2022, Sister's Bread & Creations was in business! The name was concocted as an homage to Amber's strong bond and loyalty to her family. Her sister, Melissa, lives in Utah and completes all of the paperwork necessary to keep the business running smoothly. Additionally, Amber would love to expand the business to include her sisters-in-law whose work revolves around flowers and beef ranching.
Even in the short period of time since she opened her doors, Amber's specialties and diversity of offerings is outstanding. She makes cookies, cake pops, cakes, cupcakes, wedding cakes, a Mother's Corner (lactation cookies), fruit pies, and regular and seasonal breads. She has an incredibly affordable lunch special which has proven wildly popular amongst Mac-Hi students: a stuffed roll, sandwich, or salad with a soda/water and a bag of chips for $6-$8! According to Amber, she tries to keep everything affordable because, as she says, "we all have to live in this world."
Just this month, Amber has launched a Bread Of The Month Box which includes a bread, dessert, and a recipe card that utilizes the bread and dessert, for $30/month. The September Box includes a loaf of Rustic Sourdough bread, one dozen Cinnamon Swirl Oat Cookies, and the recipe is a secret! You'll just have to pick one up to find out. she would like to work with other small businesses in the area such as the Walla Walla Cheese Company, local wineries, and Petit Noirs to incorporate add-ons into the box.
Sister's Breads & Creations is a one-stop-shop for goodies, lunch, and special occasions! The Chamber Ambassadors are doing a Ribbon-Cutting ceremony on September 22, 2022 from 6-8PM to celebrate this literally and metaphorically sweet shop coming to our town. Amber will have samples of her cookies, cake pops, focaccia bread, and cheese, as well as a raffle for a tumbler and a $50 gift card for Sister's Breads & Creations.
