MFCDA Has Joined Forces!
Just in case you haven't heard, the Milton-Freewater Area Chamber of Commerce and Milton-Freewater Downtown Alliance are formally working together under a joint operations agreement and have taken on the name of the Milton-Freewater Chamber Downtown Alliance!
Both groups had the vision of a community working together to create a vibrant and prosperous Milton-Freewater, where everyone benefits. Both groups want to create an inviting, family-friendly and inclusive climate for new and existing businesses through improvements to infrastructure and increased promotion.
Around Fall 2019, it became obvious that the two organizations partnering together would streamline business functions and shift their focus to the goal of community building, and open up more opportunities for the collective whole. And, on January 21, 2020, the joint operations agreement was adopted by both boards, and the Milton-Freewater Chamber Downtown Alliance was born! Due to COVID, it wasn’t until the Fall of 2021 when we started implementing this agreement and, since that time, much progress has been made building a strong foundation for this joint group. On April 11th of this year, a Memorandum of Agreement between the two organizations and the City of Milton-Freewater was signed as an official mark of recognition and partnership with the City.
We are keen to keep the momentum strong and plan to hold numerous community and MFCDA member events that support recreation, tourism, and economic growth in 2022-2023. Look for events such as The 1st Annual Fine Wine and Art Expo; Halloween Town & Trick or Treat, including components on South Main Street; Christmas Magic Parade and Crawl; the reinstitution of the Chamber Awards Banquet; workshops; seminars; the start of the Historic Preservation of 514 N. Main Street, and completing the renovation of 620 N. Main Street to include a bakery and coffee shop. We also want to embark on Grand Openings, Ribbon-Cuttings, and Open Houses in support of our growing economy! Please reach out to us if you have a new business you'd like us to help you promote.
