Celebrate Walla Walla Weekend Cabernet Tasting at Atelier Freewater
Dear Friends,
As you may know, the weekend of July 12th and 13th is Walla Walla’s “Celebrate Cabernet” Weekend. Cabernet Sauvignon is something we happen to know a little bit about, so to add to these festivities, we have decided to feature our own personal celebration of Cabernet as well!
We invite you to join us at Atelier Freewater on either Friday, July 12th or Saturday, July 13th for a tasting experience featuring seven wines across multiple brands — all Cabernet Sauvignon + all made by Todd Alexander.
As part of this celebration (and of particularly special note), this weekend only we will unveil -- for the first time anywhere -- some brand-new undertakings that have been in the works since 2021 and have been kept under wraps until now.
The tasting program will be as follows:
- We will pour the inaugural 2021 vintage wines of From the Sky Down, featuring 3 Cabernet Sauvignon wines from 3 single-vineyard locations across different AVAs within the Columbia Valley. These wines are already highly acclaimed and have not yet been released to the public. From the Sky Down is a new endeavor, a collaboration between Todd Alexander and Bryan Otis and the Otis family. It is solely focused on the single-vineyard expression of Cabernet Sauvignon across multiple vineyards in Washington state, and will be released in the very near future. This is your opportunity to preview this project before it is out in the world.
- We will feature Cimento Cabernet Sauvignon, which is part of another new endeavor that showcases the terroir of The Rocks District of Milton-Freewater AVA, with Todd crafting the wines.
- We will also pour the highly acclaimed WeatherEye Vineyard Estate Cabernet, and two stalwart benchmark wines – Force Majeure’s Estate Cabernets – one from the Walla Walla Estate and one from the Red Mountain estate. These wines really need no introduction.
There is not a better opportunity to experience top-quality wines of single-varietal Cabernet Sauvignon, tasted side-by-side in a comparative setting. Todd’s pedigree is well known, and these wines are incredible across the board. As an added bonus, there will likely be some surprise wines added into the mix.
Finally, the night of July 13th, we are extremely excited to host Seattle-based Chef Scott Carsberg (Lampreia, Biasto) for a very intimate dinner, with a six-course menu paired with wines to match the elegance of his James Beard Award winning cuisine. You do not want to miss this - only a few seats remain. Grab them quickly.
We hope to see you in July!
Sincerely,
The Atelier Freewater Team
