The Milton-Freewater Chamber Downtown Alliance Is Expanding our Latino Heritage Mural in 2024!!!

Milton-Freewater, Oregon, March 15: The Milton-Freewater Chamber Downtown Alliance is proud to announce that we have been awarded a $3410 grant to add three to six additional LatinX Leaders to the Latino Heritage Mural on the side of the Carniceria El Sol building in Milton-Freewater!

Our Latino Heritage Mural was the first of its kind in Milton-Freewater and served as a visual representation of the diverse community that calls Milton-Freewater home. The outpouring of delight and support from everyone who saw the mural was incredibly profound, resulting in unprecedented national attention; Univison even reached out to MFCDA to report on the mural! The second phase of this mural installation is intended to continue the community building and beautification efforts that Milton-Freewater is undergoing already.

In receiving this grant from the Milton-Freewater Area Foundation, MFCDA is filled with deep gratitude for the ongoing support that we receive from our town’s community foundation. We are also duly determined to persevere and continue our 2024 mission of Building A Brighter Future for our town.

Additionally, we would like to highlight that the Milton-Freewater Area Foundation has funded several projects in the last 20 months for MFCDA: Placemaking in Freewater Square as well as both of our Make A Difference Day events in 2023!

MFCDA has written other grants to bring new murals to the greater Milton-Freewater community, and will keep the public updated as information emerges.
